KYOCERA’s Ecosys products proven to have lowest waste and running costs

Johannesburg, South Africa – 27 March 2013: Independent authority in the imaging industry, Buyers Laboratory (BLI), finds KYOCERA’s FS-4300DN to have the lowest waste and lowest running costs of the printers tested by far.

KYOCERA commissioned BLI, the imaging industry’s leading independent authority and provider of competitive intelligence, testing and reviews, to evaluate the latest innovation of Ecosys products.

Key criteria were the top priorities for business customers – reliability, total cost of ownership and waste. BLI put 4 printers through their paces: the KYOCERA FS-4300DN, the HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603dn, the Samsung ML-6510ND and the Lexmark T654dn. In total, 500,000 pages were printed per printer at a rate of 250,000 per month over two months with 50% single-sided prints and 50% duplex. The KYOCERA product consistently outperformed the other printers.

At only 2,655GBP for 500,000 pages, KYOCERA’s total cost of ownership was shown to be around half that of the nearest competitor and only 43% of the worst performing product. The results show that the larger the print volume, the greater the savings; meaning that all customers can see a positive impact on their bottom line.

In the waste category, KYOCERA’s Ecosys environmental credentials were proven with the FS-4300DN generating only about 5kg of waste, 85.5% less than the Samsung, 83.9% less than the HP and 77.4% less than the Lexmark. Environmental sustainability has been one of the underlying principles of the KYOCERA Group’s corporate philosophy since its foundation in 1959, so this reflects positively on KYOCERA’s commitment to reducing impact on the environment.

“We are delighted with our strong performance in this independent, comparative test. Our Ecosys technology goes from strength to strength and our new generation of printers, including the FS-4300DN, continue to meet our environmental sustainability targets” said Michael Powell, Manager: Commercial Operations at KYOCERA Document Solutions South Africa. “Ecosys is a key part of product development and it is gratifying to see we continue to out-perform our competitors when it comes to lowering running costs and reducing waste.”
